Guru Purnima 2024 Puja Vidhi And Rituals

• You have to wake up early in the morning and take a bath during the Brahma Muhurat on the day of Guru Purnima.
• Add Ganga water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, and a few drops of perfume to your bathing water.
• Offer Arghya to the Sun God while chanting Guru Mantras.
• Clean the place of worship.
• Spread the worship cloth.
• Take an idol or picture of Lord Veda Vyas, your Guru or your favourite God/Goddess and install it in your home temple.
• Decorate it with a yellow cloth.

• Light the ghee lamp and burn the incense stick.
• Decorate the puja materials like offerings, fruits, flowers, whole rice, water, etc.
• First, worship Lord Ganesha and then, worship Veda Vyasa.
• Chant Guru Mantras and worship your Ishta Guru.
• Make an offering of clothes, fruits, flowers, sweets, etc.
• Recite Guru Stuti and Guru Chalisa as you perform the Puja.
• Also, you should chant Vedic mantras.
• After all this, recite Guru Aarti, Veda Vyas Aarti and Aarti of your favourite Gods and Goddesses.

Guru Purnima 2024 Vrat Katha

“According to the scriptures, once Sage Ved Vyas expressed his desire to his mother, Satyavati that he wanted to see God but his mother explained to Sage Ved Vyas that he would have to attain God himself. After this, Sage Ved Vyas went to the forest and started doing severe penance. When Rishi Ved Vyas's penance was completed, Lord Shiva appeared to him and explained the essence of Brahma knowledge to him. Also, Lord Shiva entrusted him with the responsibility of spreading this knowledge to everyone. Rishi Ved Vyas composed the four Vedas and many esoteric texts based on this knowledge. After this, Sage Ved Vyas built an ashram where he imparted Brahma knowledge to many other sages. Those sages considered Sage Ved Vyas as their Guru and worshipped him. From then onwards, the tradition of Guru disciple was established and education started in the ashram. However, the festival of Guru Purnima started being celebrated from the day when Sage Ved Vyas had requested Lord Ganesha to write the Mahabharata and before starting the writing of the Mahabharata, Lord Ganesha had worshipped Ved Vyas as his Guru on the day of Ashadha Purnima.”
