Pandit Ji said, “The full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Magh month will be celebrated as Magh Purnima 2025 on Wednesday, February 12, as per the Panchang. This date is believed to be religiously and spiritually significant according to the Hindu calendar. It is said that the donations performed on this day bring you more benefits and positive results. There is a substantial importance given to taking a bath in the holy rivers on this day, as per ancient scriptures.”
“Bathing in Ganga, Yamuna, and other holy rivers cleanses your body and your soul. Every year, a huge number of devotees head to the Sangam banks of Prayagraj to take a bath in the Ganga and worship on this holy occasion. Additionally, this year’s Magh Purnima is especially special because of Mahakumbh,” he added.
Magh Purnima 2025 Auspicious Timings
The Magh Purnima 2025 Tithi will begin at 6:55 pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, and remain till 7:22 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. It will be celebrated on February 12, as per Udaya Tithi and the anticipated moonrise timing is 6:32 pm. You are advised to offer Arghya to the Moon God on this day and worship him.
“The auspicious time to take a bath in the holy river on this day will be during the Brahma Muhurat, i.e., from 05:19 am to 06:10 am, on February 12. Another auspicious time for bathing in a holy river will be during Amrit Kaal, i.e., from 05:55 pm to 07:35 pm. You can also bathe during the Vijay Muhurta which will start from 02:27 pm and will last till 03:11 pm. If you want to do charity on this day, then Vijay Muhurta can be the most auspicious for this,” shared the astrologer.
Magh Purnima Significance
Astrologer Dwivedi explained, “According to religious beliefs, Magh month is considered the favorite month of the gods and the religious deeds done during this time yield many times more fruits in your life. On this day, by taking bath in pilgrimage places, especially Sangam Ghat of Prayagraj, Kashi, Haridwar and Ujjain, all the sins of a person are destroyed and one attains salvation. On Magh Purnima, it is customary to worship Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Maa Lakshmi. It is believed that by fasting and doing charity on this day, one attains Akshaya Punya and immense happiness and prosperity in life.”
