Abhishek Bachchan is ready with his first release of 2025: Be Happy. Directed by ace choreographer Remo D’Souza, the drama is set to hit Amazon Prime Video on March 14. Alongside Bachchan, Be Happy will feature his Ludo co-star Inayat Verma. Nora Fatehi, Nassar, Johny Lever, and Harleen Sethi, among many others, form the supporting cast.
Be Happy Trailer: What Does It Show?
Ahead of its release on March 14, the makers of Be Happy dropped its first trailer. Lasting 2:18 minutes, the promotional video establishes that the upcoming film will be a dance drama, which is D’Souza's forte. A sweet relationship between a grumpy father and his dreamer daughter is the main catalyst driving the plot ahead.
From the trailer, we understand that Shiv (Bachchan) is a single father to Dhara (Verma) and they stay in Ooty. Nassar plays Dhara's fun-loving grandpa while Shiv is a widower, which is probably why he remains so stoic all the time. Dhara dreams of being a dancer but Shiv is against it for reasons known best to him.
Enter Nora Fatehi's character, a dance teacher, who makes Bachchan understand how it is important for parents to support their child's aspirations and not impose theirs on them. Eventually, she and Shiv become close, indicating a possible romantic angle to Be Happy. Must admit, Fatehi and Bachchan's pairing indeed looks refreshing.
As Dhara prepares to participate in a big dance reality show with her grandfather, the latter meets with an accident, diminishing every chance of his involvement. This leaves Shiv as the only option. Initially reluctant as he thinks himself to be a non-dancer, how he turns things around to make Dhara's dreams a reality, forms the rest of the story of Be Happy.
Everyone mentioned in the cast gets fleeting appearances in the trailer along with D’Souza as the reality TV show judge and Jay Bhanushali as the host. Prabhu Deva also gets a quick feature but his role is not getting clear yet.
Be Happy Is 'True Passion Project,' Says Remo D’Souza
The gist of Be Happy reads:
"A dance-drama film that follows a single father and his witty, wise-beyond-her-years daughter. When his daughter's dream of performing in the country's biggest dance reality show collides with a life-altering crisis, the father is driven to do the unthinkable, showcasing the extraordinary lengths he will go to fulfill her wishes and find happiness."
Calling the film a "true passion project," D’Souza told Variety it's "a deeply moving story that celebrates the special bond between a father and daughter through the magic of music and dance. It’s a relationship that’s universal and transcends cultures, and we wanted to bring that emotion to life in a way that feels both authentic and uplifting."
Amazon Prime Video will premiere Be Happy in Hindi. Its dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada will also be available when it releases on March 14.
