India’s favourite Neeraj Chopra stormed into the men’s javelin throw competition with a bang securing his best throw with 89.34m At Olympics. He made his first throw on August 6 at the Paris Olympics 2024 and secured a place in the finals.

At the Stade de France, Neeraj opened the qualifying round for Group B and set the tone for the event with an impressive throw of 89.34 metres. He didn’t have to make another throw as he earned an automatic qualification spot by crossing the 84-metre mark by some distance.

After Neeraj Chopra’s monstrous throw, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem also earned an automatic qualification spot for himself by making an 86.59-metre throw in his first attempt. He marked the fourth-longest throw in the qualification round.

Former world champion Anderson Peters also secured a place in the final with the second-longest throw of 88.63m in his first attempt.

Germany’s Julian cleared the qualification round with a best throw of 87.76 metres which placed him at the third position.

Kenya’s Julius Yego secured the 5th position in the event with his best throw of 85.97m on the day as a total of 12 athletes made their way to the final showdown in Paris. Every thrower reportedly got the automatic qualification spot with a throw of 84m or above except for Trinidad and Tobago's Keshorn Walcott and the Finnish duo of Oliver Helander and Lassi Etalatalo.
