Indian Railways have announced a special ticket-checking drive across the Central Railway network, which will begin in October 2026. This is a month-long drive, and it will not only cover railway stations but also local trains. Know what every woman and passengers should carry and should know while travelling on the train.
What Documents Every Woman And All The Passengers Need To Carry While Travelling In Train?
If you are travelling on concession tickets or under specified reservation quotas, carry these specified documents. Remember to carry the original document and not rely only on a photocopy or an image of the document stored on their phone.
- Aadhaar
- Passport
- PAN card
- Driving licence
- Voter photo identity card
- Photo identity card issued by the Central or State Government
- Student identity card with photograph issued by a recognised school or college
- Nationalised bank passbook with photograph
- Bank-issued credit card with laminated photograph
What about unreserved train tickets?
Special attention will be given to verifying the genuineness of unreserved train tickets. The staff, who check tickets, may use the TTE App to authenticate and verify tickets during the special checking drive.
Why is Indian Railways conducting the special checking drive?
Indian Railways has announced this special drive to prevent fraudulent use of concessions and passes, check the authenticity of tickets, plugging leakage of railway revenue and curbing misuse of reservation facilities.
Indian railways have also doubled the fine on ticketless travel and announced that under the provisions of the Jan Vishwas Act, 2026, the minimum penalty under Sections 137 and 138 of the Railway Act, 1989, has been increased to Rs 500 with effect from June 20, 2026.
“As per the provisions of the Jan Vishwas Act, 2026, the minimum penalty under Sections 137 & 138 of the Railway Act, 1989 has been increased from Rs 250 to Rs 500 with effect from 20 June 2026. Passengers are requested to travel with a valid ticket and follow railway rules to avoid penalties,” the official statement said, as quoted by The Indian Express.
There are no specified rules for women passengers, but railways have safety rules for them. According to the official website of Indian Railways, the checking of compartments reserved for females will ordinarily be done by Lady Ticket Collectors/Examiners. Male Ticket Collectors or Travelling Ticket Examiners must not enter "Females" compartments but may check their tickets from the platforms only.
