What Harmanpreet Kaur Said?

She wrote that stepping down was not an easy decision, and that it carries years of memories, emotions and sacrifices. She also made it clear she is not retiring. She will continue to play for India, and she signed off with the line "Captaincy ends. The journey continues."

The timing has people talking. The decision came a day after the BCCI held a review meeting of the women's team in Guwahati, attended by Harmanpreet, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and head coach Amol Muzumdar. Cricbuzz reported that the review followed calls for her removal, and that Mandhana is likely to take over. The BCCI has not yet named a new captain.
