Ramayana Part 2 will hit theatres during Diwali 2028. The date is now official. Producer Namit Malhotra has confirmed the new timeline for Nitesh Tiwari's film, which was earlier expected in 2027.

How Was Ramayana Part 2's Diwali 2028 Release Date Announced?

Fans did not have to wait for a press note. The date appeared on screen after the end credits of Ramayana: Part 1, right after Lord Hanuman's role was teased. The text read: "Ramayana Part 2 Diwali 2028 Releasing Worldwide."

Part 1 reached theatres on November 5. The makers had earlier announced Part 1 for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 for Diwali 2027, so the sequel now arrives a year later than planned.

Why Has Ramayana Part 2 Been Pushed To 2028?

Malhotra says the team simply did not want to hurry. He said they didn't want to rush the job and want to deliver the finale in the grandest way it deserves. Earlier reports had said the sequel needs more shooting time. Part 2 is also expected to cover the big war between Rama and Ravana in Lanka.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.

Will Ramayana Become A Trilogy?

This is where it gets interesting. Namit revealed that Ramayana was originally conceived as a trilogy, before the makers settled on two parts. Reports say that if audiences love it, the story could grow into a full trilogy.
For now, nothing is locked beyond Part 2. But the door is clearly open, and the response to Part 1 will probably decide what comes next.

It means a longer wait, but a clear one. Fans now know exactly when the war in Lanka will reach the big screen. The makers have also said they want the finale to be done right, not done fast.

The trilogy talk is still only a possibility. It depends on how audiences take to the story, and Part 1 has just opened. Until then, Diwali 2028 is the date to mark.
