Durga Puja is not just a festival, it is an emotion but can also become a marathon if you are planning to do a pandal hopping. This also means hours of walking, pushing through crowds, and waiting in long queues for the darshan. And while you want to look your festive best, comfort is what will actually help you survive and enjoy.

Fashion and Beauty Hacks Before Pandal Hopping:

Before you step out in that heavy saree and pencil heels, here are a few fashion and beauty hacks that every pandal hopper needs to know.

1. Ditch The Heels

As much as heels look good with ethnic attires, they are not your best friend for pandal hopping. Pair your saree or suit with clean white sneakers, flats, or comfortable juttis. You can also wear wedge heels instead, which are comparatively more comfortable than other heels.

2. Carry a Mini Potli for a Survival Kit

Your big tote will be a pain in the crowd during Durga Puja. Carry a small cross-body potli with only five things: blotting paper or a handkerchief, band-aids for shoe bites, a small water bottle, and a power bank. These essentials will make things easy for you while waiting in a long queue.

3. Sweat-Proof Your Makeup Before You Step Out

Skip heavy foundation, as it will melt in the humidity. Use an ice cube rub, mattifying primer,
waterproof kajal, and tinted lip balm, as it will make your face feel more comfortable in the crowd. Set it with a makeup fixing spray. For hair, a low messy bun or braid is best, as open hair in that crowd and humidity is a nightmare. Remember to carry a hair tie.

4. Opt For Lightweight Cotton Attire

Avoid synthetic and chiffon sarees in the afternoon queue. A breathable cotton kurta or cotton saree will save you from rashes and sweat patches. Carry a small scarf that you can use to cover your head in the sun, sit on while waiting, or drape if it gets chilly late at night.

5. Petroleum Jelly Hack

Apply petroleum jelly to your feet before wearing juttis or any footwear to prevent blisters. If possible, keep one pair of foldable flats in your bag if you are wearing heels for photos.

Pandal hopping is all about enjoying the art, the lights, the dhunuchi naach and the bhog and not worrying about your melting makeup or aching feet. With these small but smart fashion and beauty tips, you can stay comfortable, look fresh, and actually enjoy the long walk from one pandal to another.
