Pradeep Rawat, the veteran actor, passed away at the age of 74. He starred in several prominent films like Ghajini, Sye, Lagaan and Chhaava. The news of his demise was first confirmed by Yashpal Sharma, the late actor's co-star in Lagaan. 

Who was Pradeep Rawat?

Pradeep Rawat acted in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and across several languages. He first rose to prominence after working in B.R. Chopra’s iconic television series Mahabharat as Ashwatthama. Later, he played many iconic villainous roles throughout his career.
In 2001, he played Deva Singh in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Oscar-nominated Lagaan. Pradeep Rawat became a popular name in Tamil cinema too after he was seen in A.R. Murugadoss’ Tamil blockbuster Ghajini (2005). He reprised the same role in its Hindi remake, where he collaborated with Aamir Khan again.
He gave an impressive performance in his Telugu debut as well, where he starred in S.S. Rajamouli’s 2004 film Sye.
He won several accolades in his career, including Filmfare Best Villain Award (Telugu), Nandi Award for Best Villain, among others. In Hindi cinema, he appeared in many notable projects like Agneepath, Baaghi, Koyla, Lagaan, Singh Is Bling and most recently Chhaava.

What was the cause of Pradeep Rawat’s demise?

Pradeep Rawat was battling cancer for quite some time, and it relapsed. He was admitted to the hospital for over a month. His last rites will be held today (August 5) at 2 PM. 
While speaking to Hindustan Times, Pradeep Rawat’s manager, Siddharth Tiwari, confirmed the actor's demise and revealed that he had been undergoing treatment after his cancer returned. He said, “He was suffering from cancer, and it had relapsed. He has died a few hours back.”
He is survived by his wife and son.
His co-star Yashpal Sharma also paid tribute to the late actor and wrote on Instagram, "Pradeep Rawat, Our Ghajini, Deva of Lagaan. RIP."
Fans expressed their grief and condolences after hearing about Pradeep Rawat’s death and paid tribute to him by remembering his incredible work.
