Who Is The Real-Life Mrs Chatterjee?
The film is based on the true story that happened to Sagarika Bhattacharya and her husband Anurup Bhattacharya. Back in May 2011, the couple lost the custody of their toddlers — a three-year-old Avigyan and one-year-old daughter Aishwarya — after the Norwegian child welfare department, Barnevarne, objected to her hand-feeding the kids, referring it to force-feeding. The authorities put the children in foster care.

The Norwegian authorities further claimed that there was insufficient space for the children to play in the house and accused the parents of dressing their children and playing with them in “unsuitable” ways. Despite being permitted to share a bed with his father, the Child Protection Agency in Norway insisted that the young kid have his own room with a separate bed.
After a long diplomatic spat between the two countries, the Norwegian authorities came to the conclusion that the children should live under the custody of their father's brother. While the decision allowed their father to come back to India with his children, differences between Sagarika and Anurup had already risen at the time.
Sagarika had to appear in court to get her kids back. After a protracted legal battle, Sagarika was ultimately able to return home with her children. The Calcutta High Court granted her custody of her children Abhigyan and Aishwarya in January 2013 after finding the case in her favour.

Expressing her relief following her victory in the custody case, Sagarika told the media in 2013, “It's a huge relief, and I want to convey my regards to my well-wishers. My ordeal is finally over. I cannot express my emotions because I couldn't meet my children for a long time. I pray to God that children can always stay with me.”
