Step 1: Take any old saree which could make neat and clean pleats. You can choose any colour of your choice. Try to take a saree with a wide border as it will give your ghaghra an edgy look.

Step 2: Now fold the ghaghra twice and measure the length you want. If you want it to be 38 metres, measure the length using a measuring tape and make the marking with chalk.

Step 3: Cut the remaining length and open the fold once. Cut vertically through one edge so that you have two equal pieces of the saree. Now take one piece and start making pleats of your ghaghra.

Step 4: Make marking every 5 inches and start making clean pleats and secure them with pins. Once finished, remove the pins and stitch. Do the same with the other piece of saree. Now it's time to attach the linings.

Step 5: Take the matching coloured lining cloth and stitch underneath both pleated clothes. Now stitch both the saree pieces together to turn them into one ghaghra. Take the remaining piece of the saree and make a belt for the ghaghra. Attach the belt and your ghaghra is ready.
