The controversy surrounding Kim Soo-hyun and his alleged late girlfriend Kim Sae-ron has taken a dramatic turn. Reportedly, Lee Chan Hee, who claims to be the late minor’s ex-boyfriend has come in defence of Kim Soo-hyun and blamed her abusive husband, whom she married overseas and was in the process of seeking an annulment from. Reportedly, Lee Chan Hee is identified to be a 26-year-old K-pop idol trainee.

Who is Lee Chan Hee?
Lee Chan Hee was a contestant on a K-pop reality show called Fan Pick, which aired on MBC from August to October 2023. The show featured 17 contestants competing for a spot in a new group called PICKUS. Chan Hee was part of a team called Super Pick, but unfortunately, he was eliminated in the final episode. The top six contestants, however, went on to form the group PICKUS and made their debut in April 2024.
The identity of Kim Sae-ron's ex-boyfriend was recently revealed by a YouTube channel called Garosero Research Institute. According to the host, Kim Sae-ron's relationship with her ex was very short-lived - they didn't even date for a full week before deciding to just be friends.

Although the YouTube channel didn't post a clear picture of him, they shared many personal details about Lee Chan Hee. He's reportedly a Korean man born in 1999, living in Incheon, and in his mid-20s. After his brief relationship with Kim Sae-ron ended, he allegedly kept contacting her, seemingly trying to advance his own career. According to the channel, Lee Chan Hee managed to break into the entertainment industry thanks to his connection with Kim Sae-ron, and he hoped to benefit from her professional success and connections.

On March 27, Kim Sae-ron's family held a press conference, where their lawyers shared some disturbing text messages allegedly exchanged between Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun. They claimed these messages proved that Kim Soo-hyun had a romantic relationship with Kim Sae-ron when she was still a minor. However, Kim Soo-hyun's agency has denied these allegations, and since then, they haven't made any further comments.
