Does a Dolby Atmos Soundbar Work with Any TV?
A Dolby Atmos soundbar can connect to almost any TV, but achieving the full Dolby Atmos experience depends on your TV's capabilities. To get true, lossless Atmos (often from Blu-rays or gaming consoles), your TV should have an HDMI eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) port. This port has the bandwidth to pass the uncompressed Atmos signal to the soundbar.
For streamed Atmos content (Netflix, Disney+), which uses a compressed format called Dolby Digital Plus, an HDMI ARC port is usually sufficient. Older TVs without ARC/eARC can still use the soundbar via an optical cable or HDMI passthrough, but this will often limit the audio to standard surround sound or stereo, not full Atmos.
