Materials needed
To make rakhi at home you need colourful threads, small beads or charms, glue, scissors, a piece of cardboard or thick paper and embellishments like sequins or small fabric pieces.

Procedure
Cut a piece of cardboard into a small rectangle or circle. This will be the base for your Rakhi. Also, cut colourful thread each into 12-15 inches long to create a vibrant look.

Tie the thread
Collect the threads together and tie a knot at one end. Apply a small amount of glue to the centre of the cardboard base. Press the knot of threads into the glue and let it dry.

Add embellishments
Collect the threads on the base. Add and knot beads or charms, then glue the sequins and fabric pieces on the thread. Let the glue dry.

Finishing touch
Cut two long pieces of thread and glue them to the ends of the Rakhi. These will be used to tie the Rakhi around your brother’s wrist.

Once everything is dry, trim any excess threads and glue. Now, your beautiful rakhi is ready.
