Holy Basil (Tulsi)

    During Ganesh Pooja rituals, it is often recommended to not use tulsi leaves during worship.

Rice

    One must not offer broken rice, known as Akshat, during Ganesh Pooja. Whole-grain rice should be used as an offering instead.

No garlic or onion

    While preparing bhog or prasad for Lord Ganesha, it is advised to not use garlic or onion in the dishes.

Two idols?

    No two idols should co-exist in the same household. It is advised to purchase a new Lord Ganesha idol for the occasion and immerse the old ones in water.

Clothing

    Devotees are advised to refrain from wearing blue and black-coloured clothes during the puja, as these hues are generally avoided for the worship.
