The one skincare rule that every woman knows today is that sunscreen is mandatory. Not just outdoors, but indoors as well and not just once but multiple times a day. But this necessary cream comes with its own set of problems. In my personal experience, it took me a lot of time to find an SPF that's lightweight and doesn't leave a white cast. Usually, the products I found were quite heavy, could feel extremely greasy, made me look dull, and sometimes, even clogged my pores! Reapplying them was a task because they displaced my makeup. Thankfully, after a lot of research and trial and error, I finally found sunscreen brands on Amazon that are light in texture and do not make my skin feel like it's carrying extra weight.
Are The Best Sunscreen Brands With A Lightweight Texture Effective?
This was my concern as well. Are only thick sunscreens more powerful than the lightweight ones? Do they create a layer to protect us from the sun? Or, if it doesn't leave a white cast, does it not have enough Zinc Oxide, the main ingredient of any good sun protection? Well, here's what I found:
- Main Character vs Side Characters: The weight of your sunscreen is not dependent on its major ingredients (main character). It's actually about the supporting components (side characters) like lotions, oils, and emulsions. They are often used to stabilise and carry the Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide.
- Chemical or mineral sunscreen: The products that claim to have a watery or milk-like runny texture are often chemical or hybrid sunscreens. The filters have micronised particles that get absorbed in the skin fast. Basically, it gives quick protection without adding a layer of heavy paste on your face.
- It's all about SPF: And PA++++. If your brand offers a lightweight sunscreen with SPF 50 and four PA pluses, then you are good to go. They passed the mandatory lab tests and are capable of protecting you in the Indian heat.
Based on everything we discussed, here are the brands that offer lightweight sunscreen for your face.
