Vivo Y500 is back in launch talk after fresh listings. If launched in India, it could bring a big battery, 90W charging and basic mid-range hardware as its main offer.
Vivo Y500 may soon come to markets outside China, and India is also being talked about. Vivo has not announced the phone here yet, but recent listings have brought the Y-series model back into news.
The phone has already launched in China, so the broad idea is clear. This is not a slim camera-style Vivo phone trying to sell only on design. The main talking point here is the battery, and that is where Vivo may try to catch attention in India too.
Vivo Y500 has reportedly been seen on Bluetooth SIG with model numbers V2627, V2634 and V2635. This does not confirm the India launch date, but such listings usually come before a wider rollout.
There is another listing as well. A Vivo Y500 model has also appeared on Google Play Console, and reports suggest this could be the 4G version. So, the question now is not only when Vivo will launch it, but also which version India will get.
The Vivo Y500 sold in China has a 6.77-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. Vivo has used the Dimensity 7300 processor here. The phone is listed with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, which is pretty much what we now expect from this range.
The bigger talking point is the battery. Vivo has given an 8,200mAh battery with 90W fast charging, which is not something we see on every mid-range phone. This could be the feature Vivo pushes the most if the phone comes to India.
For people who use hotspot, maps, calls and videos a lot, this battery size can make a clear difference. That is why the Y500 may get attention more for backup than for camera or design.
The China model has a 50MP main rear camera along with a 2MP sensor. For selfies, it gets an 8MP camera. These are simple camera specs, so Vivo may not present this as a camera-heavy phone.
That is not a bad thing. Not every phone has to be sold as a camera phone. Some buyers only want a smooth screen, good battery, fast charging and a phone that works properly every day.
The India version is still the part to watch. Vivo has not said whether it will bring the same 5G model that launched in China or a separate 4G model.
This matters because the market has changed now. Even buyers looking around the budget and mid-range space ask for 5G first. So, if Vivo brings the 5G Y500, the phone will be easier to place. But if the company brings a 4G version, then the price cannot be too high.
Redmi, Realme, iQOO and POCO already have many 5G phones in this range. That is why Vivo will have to make the Y500 look right on price, not just battery.
