How it started

    Neeraj Chopra’s skills were first recognised by Jaiveer Chaudhary who himself was a javelin thrower. He was his first coach as well.

First major medal

    His first major medal came at the Youth Olympics in Bangkok in 2014, where he won a silver medal, marking his first international debut.

2018 commonwealth games

    At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, he made headlines by winning gold with an 86.47-metre throw.

Asian games 2018

    After this, he won another gold medal in the same year at the Asian Games in Jakarta. He made an 88.46 metre this time.

Summer Olympics 2021

    Neeraj became the country’s hero in 2021 at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo where he won the gold medal for throwing an 87.58 metre javelin.
