The inaugural edition of Women's Premier League (WPL) cricket kickstarted on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai and will conclude on March 26 at the Brabourne Stadium. This first season of WPL has a total of 20 league matches and two playoff games. The league has five teams - Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz. Australian captain Meg Lanning is leading the Delhi Capitals franchise. Lanning has multiple records to her name. The 30-year-old Meg Lanning has played 242 games to date in all the three international cricket formats. Through her journey, she has scored 8,352 runs that include 17 centuries. DC captain holds the record for scoring the highest number of runs in a single series during the ICC Women's Championship. Further, she also holds the record for playing the highest number of T20 internationals as a captain. She has led Australia as the captain in 100 matches. Meg Lanning also holds the record for scoring the most centuries against a particular team. Lastly, she holds the record for making the most hundreds as a female cricketer during one-day internationals. We are sure, there is more to come from her!

Jemimah Rodrigues
Rodrigues was sold to team Delhi Capitals for a whopping ₹2.2 crores and went on to become the highest-paid player. The 22-year-old started playing cricket at the age of four. Jemimah shined during the U-19 ODIs where she scored a double century. Last year, she brought home the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. She was also a part of the T20 World Cup where she played a crucial role.

Shafali Verma
Lovingly called Shifu by her teammates, the 19-year-old Shafali Verma is the most talked about player in WPL today. The young player hails from Haryana and has been playing the game even before there were any cricket academies in her hometown Rohtak. Throughout her journey in the cricket world, she has given multiple hit performances, be it during the Women's T20 series, Women's Big Bash League or the Commonwealth Games. She was also a part of the Asia Cup in Bangladesh. Earlier this year, she led the U19 team during the World Cup in South Africa.
Marizanne Kapp
South African player, Kapp is also one of the highest-paid cricketers in the Delhi Capitals squad. She is an all-rounder who made her international debut in the year 2009 with the World Cup in Australia. She holds a record for the highest-ever score by a South African player during the Women's World Cups. She also made a 128-run stand with Dane van Niekerk during the World Cup which made her bag the record for the highest-ever partnership for a South African women cricketer.
