When the winter season approaches, we all look forward to many dishes and drinks that are available mostly in the cold season. One of them is green peas or matar which is a fav of many and then ofcourse the paneer or cottage cheese. Here is a recipe that is comforting, tasty, easy to make and takes very less time to cook and prepare.
Matar Paneer Pulao Recipe Card

Ingredients
- 1 cup Basmati rice
- 200 grams green peas
- 100 gms paneer slices
- 1/2 inch crushed ginger
- 1/2 tsp crushed garlic
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Salt
- 2-3 cloves
- 1 tsp cumin seed
- ½ inch cinnamon stick
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 black cardamom
- Green chilli chopped
- ¼ tsp black pepper powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- Chopped coriander leaves
- 1 ½ tbsp ghee
- 1 tbsp Oil
Instructions
- Step 1
- Wash the rice properly and soak it for 1 hour.
- Step 2
- Next, drain the excess water.
- Step 3
- Heat the ghee and oil in a pan on medium heat.
- Step 4
- Now, add cumin seed, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick and black cardamom, freshly crushed ginger garlic, paneer cubes and sauté till paneer becomes golden brown.
- Step 5
- I recommend that you shallow fry the paneer cubes separately but that is optional.

- Now add in the peas and sauté it for few seconds.

- Add the rice and sauté on medium heat for a minute.
- Step 8
- Now add 2 cups of water and salt, mix well and bring it to boil.
- Step 9
- When the water starts boiling, keep the flame on low and cover with the lid and cook for 5 minutes.
- Step 10
- After 5 minutes open the lid and put garam masala, black pepper powder, lemon juice and sauté.

- Again cover the lid and cook until the rice becomes soft.
- Step 12
- When the rice becomes soft, cover the lid again, switch off the flame and let it stand for 10 minutes.

- Matar paneer pulao in the pan is ready to serve.
