Janmashtami 2022: Sweet Khoya Recipes To Impress Your Guests

If you want to impress your guests this festive season,  prepare these easy sweet khoya recipes at home.

Janmashtami is just around the corner and the most exciting thing about any festive season is the food. During this time of the year, we gorge on food guilt-free, especially sweets. If you also want to impress your guests with  delicious treats made at home, then these easy khoya sweets are perfect. 


kalakand janmashtami sweets


  • 3 Litre Milk
  • 2 Tbsp Vinegar
  • ¾ Cup Sugar
  • ¼ Tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Nuts (Chopped)


  • Take a large vessel and add two litres of milk. 
  • Bring it to a boil.
  • Now, add vinegar and mix well. Mix it until the milk curdles. 
  • Drain the milk in a cotton cloth. 
  • Then rinse it with water to remove all the sourness.  
  • Now your paneer is ready. Mash it to get a smooth texture. 
  • Squeeze all the water and transfer it to a large plate.
  • Take the remaining milk and heat it until it is reduced to half. 
  • Add sugar and cardamom powder. Mix well until the sugar dissolves. 
  • Now add paneer to the milk and mix well. 
  • Continue to cook till the mixture thickens. 
  • Transfer it to a tray and level it. 
  • Garnish with chopped nuts. 
  • Let it rest in the refrigerator overnight and once it sets perfectly, cut it into pieces. 
  • Your kalakand is now ready.

  • 1 Litre Full Cream Milk
  • ¼ Cup fresh Khoya
  • ½ Cup Sugar 
  • 5-6 Tbsp Milk Powder
  • Few Soaked Nuts & Cashews


  • In a thick pan, heat some milk over medium flame. 
  • Keep stirring the milk until it comes to a boil. 
  • Now lower the flame and keep cooking it down until it thickens. Keep stirring continuously. 
  • Add sugar and cook on low flame until the sugar is dissolved. 
  • Now add milk powder, cardamom powder and soaked nuts. Mix well until it thickens to form a smooth paste. 
  • Once you have got the desired consistency, turn off the flame and let it cool down. ‘
  • Roll the mixture into small balls or pedas and garnish with chopped nuts.

  • 1 Cup Milk Powder
  • ¼ Cup Ghee
  • 1 ¼ Cup Milk
  • ¼ Cup Lemon Juice
  • ½ Cup Powdered Sugar
  • ½ Tsp Cardamom Powder
  • Few Strands of Kesar


  • Add milk powder, ghee and ¼ cup of milk to a bowl. Mix well to form a paste. 
  • Heat it in the microwave for three minutes to make the khoya. 
  • Now, boil one cup of milk and add lemon juice to it. 
  • Strain with a muslin cloth and keep it under a heavy weight for an hour to make chenna.
  • Now mix khoya and chenna and mash it with your hands to make it smooth. 
  • Add sugar, cardamom powder and kesar. Cook until the mixture thickens. 
  • Let it cool down for some time, then give it a shape using moulds.
