So, here we bring you a way to eat them guilt free. With this easy recipe, you would be adding some extra taste to your bland khichdi along with making fritters a bit healthier. Try making these khichdi pakoras at home and feed your family as well as guests and trust me everyone will be running after you to get the recipe. Just mix the leftover khichdi with all the spices and breadcrumbs to bind the mixture together. Once you get the desired consistency, take a dough and make your favourite shape and just fry them in oil. Your khichdi fritters are ready in absolutely no time.

  • Leftover Khichdi
  • Salt
  • ½ Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 Tsp Coriander Powder
  • ½ Tsp Dried Mango Powder (Aamchur)
  • 1/2 Tsp Garam Masala
  • ½ Tsp Ajwain
  • 2 Tbsp. Cornflour Or Oats
  • Bread Crumbs (Grind 2 Slices Of Bread In A Mixer)
  • Oil
  • 1 Chopped Onion
  • 2 Chopped Green Chillies


Step 1
Add the balls to the hot oil and fry till they are golden brown. Drain the excess oil and remove the balls on to the kitchen oil absorbent.
Step 2
Take a bowl and mix all the above listed ingredients in a bowl. Mix till the ingredients combine and form a dough like consistency. If the mixture is loose, even after mixing for a long time, add more breadcrumbs and mix well till it is tight.
Step 3
Now take enough oil for deep frying in a pan. Till the time oil heats to the desired temperature take small portions of the dough, make a ball and flatten with thumb. In order to achieve the same, dip your fingers in water or oil to make them moist.
Step 4
If you want crispier outer crust, fry them in the oil for 2 more minutes and then remove on to a kitchen absorbent paper.
Step 5
Khichdi pakoras are ready to be served. Serve them with your choice of chutney.
