Ingredients

  • 500 gms boiled & mashed yam or jimikand
  • 15 chopped cashewnuts
  • 2 tbsp chironji
  • 1/4 cup scraped coconut
  • 1/2 tsp powdered black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp grated jaggery
  • Salt to taste 1 tsp coriander leaves
  • 1 cup arrowroot
  • Oil to fry

Instructions

Step 1
Mix in the mashed yam, chironji, cashewnut, coconut, cumin powder coriander powder, gur and salt in a bowl.
Step 2
Knead it all and then mix in the coriander leaves and mix. Rest for ten minutes.
Step 3
Divide the mixture into twelve portions.
Step 4
Grease your palms with a little oil and roll all the portions into balls.
Step 5
Flatten these rolls to make a tikki.
Step 6
Roll the tikkis in arrowroot and keep aside.
Step 7
Heat a non-stick pan and place them on it and dribble a little oil all around.
Step 8
Shallow fry them all till both sides are crispy and golden brown.
Step 9
Drain onto an absorbent paper and serve hot.
