How To Make Tomato Soup At Home?

  • Melt butter in a pressure cooker. Then, add bay leaf and sauté for a minute.
  • Now, add chopped onions and garlic. Sprinkle some salt. Cook for few minutes till they become soft.
  • Then, add chopped tomatoes with some water. Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  • Once the pressure goes down, open the lid. Tomatoes will be almost mushy by now.
  • Remove the bay leaf. Then blend it into a smooth puree in a blender.
  • In a pan, melt 1/2 tablespoons butter. Once the pan is hot, add the all-purpose flour. Stir for a few minutes.
  • Now, add cold milk and mix well. Cook until it thickens.
  • To avoid lumps, add the puree slowly and let it come to the boil. Add water if the soup looks too thick.
  • Now, mix red chilli powder, black pepper powder and garam masala.
  • Stir everything together thoroughly. Add some sugar. Allow to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Finally, pour in the heavy cream. Mix well and turn off the stove. Serve the delicious soup hot!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1/3 cup chopped Red onion
  • 2 cloves chopped Garlic
  • 4 chopped Tomato
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 tbsp Butter for soup
  • 1/2 tbsp All purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cold Milk
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp fresh cream or malai

Instructions

Step 1
In a pressure cooker, melt the butter. Once melted, add the bay leaf and sauté for a minute.

After that, add in the chopped onions and garlic. Add a pinch of salt. Cook until the onions have softened and become translucent.

Now, add chopped tomatoes with 1/2 cup of water. Put the lid on the cooker, add the weight, and pressure cook for 2 whistles.

Once the pressure goes down, open the lid. Tomatoes will be almost mushy by now.

Remove the bay leaf from there. Then, using a blender or a grinder, blend it into a smooth puree.

In a medium-sized saucepan, melt 1/2 tablespoons butter. Once the pan is hot, add the all-purpose flour. Cook for a few minutes while constantly stirring.

Then, add chilled or cold milk and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens to the consistency of white sauce.
