There are days when we feel like munching on something crunchy and sweet in between meals. An easy to make snack for those days is a coconut bread toast. You just need a few ingredients to prepare this delicious toast. There are two ways of making this recipe, one of which includes deep frying the bread and the other one includes toasting the bread on a pan. Deep-fried slices means more calories. Ingredients

  • Bread slices
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 150 gm desiccated coconut
  • 2-3 green elaichi or cardamom
  • ghee/butter for cooking

Instructions

Step 1
In a pan, add water, sugar and cardamom. Bring to boil till your get a syrup like consistency.
Step 2
Cut a bread slice in four equal parts and apply ghee or butter on both sides.
Step 3
On a non-stick pan, place the bread slices. Cook on medium flame. Toast till the bread turns golden and crisp. If you want to deep fry your bread slices then in a pan, add ghee and fry till crisp and golden.
Step 4
Dip the toasted/fried bread slices in the sugar syrup. Take out after a minute and keep aside.
Step 5
Place all the bread slices, dipped in sugar syrup on a tray and then garnish with grated coconut. You can top the toast with some dry fruits too. Serve hot!
