A North Indian sweet dish which is a must-have during Holi, gujiya is one Indian sweet that is savoured by all. Fitness conscious souls go for a baked version, kids don't really care it should taste good and sweet lovers like us... well we are like kids as well. But when we have to make them ourselves or want to make it at home to avoid that amount of sugar syrup and ghee, we want recipes that take less time and can be prepared easily without any tedious tasks. Here in this recipe, I went for milkmaid instead of khoya. This recipe took me very less time and the only labour you have to do is filling the shells. But believe me, it is easy and all you have to do is give it some love and patience. So let's get started with the recipe.

  • 5 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 cups grated coconut
  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts
  • 1 tbsp cardamom powder
  • 5 tbsp ghee
  • 1 1/2 cup maida
  • Oil for frying
  • 200 gm milkmaid
  • 50 gm butter


Step 1
Mix in the cocoa powder, grated coconut, chopped nuts, milkmaid, cardamom powder till it becomes thick and keep it aside.
Step 2
Now mix in the ghee and water and make a fine dough.
Step 3
Take portions of the dough and fill it up with batter you had kept aside and give it a shape of a gujiya and fry.
Step 4
Heat some chocolate sauce and pour it on the gujiya and glaze it and serve.
