  • 8 slices of brown or white bread
  • oil to cook
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 2-3 curry leaves (kadi patta) ½ cup chopped onions
  • 1 ½ tsp finely chopped green chillies
  • ¼ cup chopped capsicum
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ cup chopped tomatoes
  • ¼ teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped coriander leaves
  • and salt to taste


Step 1
Begin by breaking bread slices into small pieces.
Step 2
Then place a pan on the stove, add oil and then mustard seeds, after the oil is hot.
Step 3
Wait for the seeds to crackle. Once done, add the curry leaves and sauté on a medium flame.
Step 4
Add onions, capsicum, tomatoes and green chillies. Sauté all together on a medium flame.
Step 5
Then add your spices, turmeric powder and garam masala.
Step 6
Mix well and add bread pieces. Coat them with the mixture and add salt.
Step 7
Cook for 4-5 minutes, turn off the flame and add coriander leaves and lemon juice.

Once done, serve bread poha with sauce or chutney.
