Baby Potato Fry Or Chhote Aloo Ki Sabzi Recipe Card

  • 30 small or baby potatoes
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 3/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 11/4tsp urad dal
  • 2 sprigs curry leaves
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 13/4 tsp coriander powder
  • 3/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Sal as per taste


Step 1
Wash the potatoes and boil them for 15 minutes.
Step 2
You can either peel or retain the skin of the potatoes at this stage.
Step 3
In a non stick, heat the oil and add the seeds, dal and leaves and let them splutter for a few seconds (maintain your distance when this happens and don't panic if you are a first timer in the kitchen).
Step 4
Once they calm down, put the flame on low and add the spice powders and salt, mixing them quickly so that they do not burn.
Step 5
Add the potatoes, mixing them well with a gentle hand, making sure that all are coated well with the masala.
Step 6
Cover cook in low flame till the potatoes turns golden.
Step 7
Serve with rice and dal or with a chapati and ghiya ka raita.
