The much-awaited Lakme Fashion Week started on a fashionable note as glamorous actor Tabu walked the ramp for designer Gaurav Gupta, in Mumbai. At 47, she looked drop-dead gorgeous in Gaurav Gupta off-shoulder gown. Needless to say, she has cracked the code of beating the age in style. On the contrary, director Karan Johar, who is closely associated with fashion for quite some time, also walked the ramp for Gaurav Gupta.
His collection, titled ‘The (Un)folding’ exhibited a delicate hand embroidered chikankari and Benarasi brocade work. Interestingly, the subtle play of these two elements has been finely translated into dresses, pantsuits, sari gowns and lehengas. Gaurav Gupta’s signature style of pattern making including origami folding as well as fluid-structural construction were also evident. Some of the drool-worthy summer pastels like the yellow, rose, ivory and powder blue dominated his collection.
Gaurav Gupta took to his Instagram handle and shared a few captivating pictures posing with Tabu and Karan Johar. “#GGMuses @karanjohar and @tabutiful walk together for the Opening show of @lakmefashionwk to celebrate #GauravGupta SS’19 collection that marks the very first time we have used traditional chikankari offset with the our signature futuristic sensibilities. Sculpted fabrics, handmade 3D embellishments and pastel hues including bright candy yellow were the highlights of the showcase at The Royal Opera House, Mumbai,” he wrote in one of his Instagram images.
