For a shiny complexion, you need to make sure that your gut is clean. Gut is the largest digestive organ starting from your mouth extending to your large intestine. What goes inside your gut is what reflects outside. hen all you have is undigested food, waste, and toxins and if there is no sign of nutrients in your diet, the gut will absorb the waste and send it to all the parts of your body especially the skin. 

So, ahead of Valentine's day, you should clean your gut. This can be done by detoxifying your gut and removing all the harmful toxins. 

We spoke to Celebrity Dietician and Nutritionist Shweta Shah, Founder, EatFit247, and asked her to share some quick tips which can help us clean out our gut ahead of Valentine's day. Read on.

Eat Ginger

Consuming half-inch ginger after every meal is good for your skin. Ginger contains gingerol which helps speed up the digestion process. Ginger has antioxidants present in it which help preserve skin's collagen and prevent the appearance of ageing signs like fine lines and wrinkles.

Ginger also has antiseptic properties which makes it a great ingredient to fight acne. It kills the bacteria in the skin which causes pimples and acne.

Drink Up Fresh Vegetable Juices

Juice out the vegetables and have a glass of vegetable juice everyday. Vegetables like ash gourd, mint, coriander, beetroot, carrots, spinach, celery, etc help in removing the harmful toxins from your body. It is a good idea to drink it up in the morning. 

You can also have fresh fruit juices. For glowing skin, you can have apple, orange, or amla juice. They not only make a healthy drink but also keep you full for a long time preventing you to consume unhealthy snacks. 

Ditch Processed Foods

Whenever you get those hunger pangs, snack on some fruits. Fruits like kiwi, oranges, papaya are loaded with vitamin C which is great for your skin. Consuming fruits everyday helps you get that naturally glowing skin. These fruits will also fuel your body with all the required nutrients and further make your skin healthy from within. Munch on your fruit salad whenever you feel hungry rather than eating processed foods.

Other Tips - 

  • The expert shared that for a glass-like complexion, one should never eat the wrong foods which can upset the stomach.

  • Keep yourself hydrated through the day. Drink up at least 8 glasses of water. 
  • Fruits should not be mixed with any other food. This is because fruits take less time to digest compared to other food which puts pressure on your digestive system. The golden rule is to eat fruits alone. 
  • Never heat honey. Honey is a medicine and not food. Preparing a sugar-free dessert by adding honey isn't actually healthy.
  • Avoid eating fruits or other foods with milk. Your glass of milk is best if consumed alone. 
  • Stay away from processed, oily, and spicy foods which take a lot of time to digest. Eating them regularly negatively impacts your skin. They can lead to a lot of skin concerns. 

Lastly, remember that it is essential to feed your body healthy food. However, to get the right results for your body and skin, you will have to be a little patient. Consistency is the key! After following a healthy diet regularly, you will see a noticeable difference in your skin. Look at it as a lifetime process to take care of your skin health, so you have a glassy complexion throughout and not just for Valentine's day.
