It is one of the biggest festivals celebrated across cities in India. The 10-day-long celebration comes to an end with people bidding farewell to Lord Ganesh and inviting him again to their homes for the next year.

It is a common occurrence in Mumbai, to witness streets filled with people throwing colours in the air and dancing to drum beats. The zealous celebration is a sight to behold in the ‘City of Dreams’.
It all started in 1893, when freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak started the processions as a step to bring Indians together against the Britishers. Mumbai is the best destination in the country to be around during the festival.
You must not miss out on Lalbaugcha Raja, Ganesh Galli, GSB Seva Ganesh, Andhericha Raja and Mumbaicha Raja pandals.
New Delhi isn’t just the capital city, it is also the cultural capital of the country. One can witness traditional rites, vibrant pandals, and hundreds of devotees dancing during processions.
A few places that are a must-visit include Laxmi Nagar, Pitampura, Netaji Subhash Place Ground, Sarojini Nagar, DDA Mini Stadium, and Sri Vinayak Mandir Marg.
Among South Indian cities, Hyderabad is one place where Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated enthusiastically. People dance in joyous celebration when bidding farewell to Lord Ganesh.
Thousands of pandals are set up across the city, where people pay visits to worship and seek blessings from Lord Ganpati. A few famous places include Durgam Cheruvu, New Nagole, Balapur, Khairatabad, and Chaitanyapuri.

In the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, Kanipakam is a lesser-known destination that you can visit to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi this year. Every year, they host Brahmotsavam, a grand festival dedicated to Lord Ganesh. Here the festivities last for at least 21 days.

Much like Mumbai, Pune is another city in Maharashtra where the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. During the rule of the Peshwas, Lord Ganpati was worshipped widely across the population, making it one of the most important festivals celebrated in the region.
You must see Kasba Ganpati, Tulsi Baug Ganpati, Kesariwada Ganpati, Guruji Talim and Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganpati pandals set up in Pune.
In Goa, Ganesh Chaturthi is known as Vinayak Chaturthi. Vinayak is among several other names by which Lord Ganesh is famous. Devotees here use bamboo and coconut shells to carve the idols. You can visit temples located in Khandola and Ganeshpuri to witness the celebrations.
