Trigger Warning: Mentions of Violence Against Women
Andrew Tate, the former American-British kickboxer, became a TikTok star by creating a world of misogyny and violence while glorifying the abuse of women. He rose to internet fame after he was removed from the popular television show Big Brother. He is currently under arrest by the Romanian authorities on the grounds of accused rape and human trafficking.
The Romanian authorities also arrested his brother Tristan Tate alleging their involvement in human trafficking, assault, and rape. They have also seized 29 movable assets including luxury vehicles, watches worth $4 million and large amounts of cash in different currencies. The authorities have named six women as survivors and two of them have given interviews to a Romanian channel in support of the Tate brothers. One of them also said that she is “good friends” with the brothers.

In one of his videos, he acts out how he would attack a woman if she accused him of cheating and said, “It’s bang out the machete, boom in her face and grip her by the neck. Shut up bitch.” While in another, he spoke about throwing a woman’s stuff out of his window and in another video he calls his former girlfriend, who accused him of physical violence, a “dumb h*e” while denying the allegations.
However, many platforms have time and again suspended and banned him including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Twitter suspended him permanently in 2017 after he tweeted that women should “bear some responsibility” for being sexually harassed, the social networking giant removed the ban last year after Elon Musk took over control.
His videos are usually a display of his garish wealth. There are lavish cars and houses, as well as throngs of women and misogyny. Tate has gone on record multiple times saying women can not drive, that they belong at home and are properties to be owned by men. In one of his interviews, he is also seen saying that no one can ever be a “one woman man” because their biology is not meant for that and that men who are that way are so because of societal pressure. In another alleged leaked voice note by Tate, he discusses sexual violence in graphic detail.
