Assuming that you know acidic foods, gum disease, and aging can wear down tooth enamel. And some people also have enamel that is naturally thinner, our teeth tend to stain. Yes there are a number of tooth whitening kits available in the market, but if you would like to go natural, we have listed a few remedies for you that could help remove stains and protect tooth enamel.

1 Making Dietary Changes

Eliminating foods that leave stains on your teeth is a good idea. Foods and beverages that contain tannins, such as wine and tea, are major culprits. Coffee, dark sodas and juices can also stain them. Acidic foods can make the teeth look yellow by wearing down the enamel. If you do have all of that, don't go over board and always brush their teeth after having them.

Dentists generally recommend waiting 30 minutes after eating before brushing the teeth. Acids can weaken the enamel, so brushing too soon can cause damage. Also please quit smoking as tobacco products can reduce the risk of nicotine stains. It can also prevent tooth decay and gum disease, both of which can damage the enamel and cause oral health issues.

2 Trying Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is the term for washing the mouth with oil to remove dirt, bacteria, and debris. It is not a substitute for regular brushing or flossing, but as per some researches washing the mouth with certain oils may help to whiten the teeth. To try this method, rinse the mouth with oil for a minute after brushing, then spit it out. Oils suitable for oil pulling include coconut oil, sunflower oil and sesame oil.

3 Baking Soda & Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is an antibacterial agent and works great as a total mouth and gum cleaner and keeps the mouth free of germs. A good oral mouth rinse can be made using hydrogen peroxide; use half water and half hydrogen peroxide, swish around in your mouth for about one minute, and then rinse.

4 Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar effectively works as a natural antibiotic and teeth/gum cleanser and also removes stubborn stains on the teeth.

5 Lemon or Orange Peels

Similarly to apple cider vinegar, citrus fruits like lemon and/or orange peels, or lemon essential oil, which contain beneficial acids, also does the trick for whitening teeth. These foods overall are very healthy, such as benefiting digestion due to regulating levels of stomach acid, but the high acid content can also eventually wear away the enamel on the teeth if used too aggressively.
