Have you ever tried dyeing hair at home while looking into the mirror? You would understand the hassle of getting stains on hands, forehead, neck and ears. Does it bother you? Does the colour come off right after washing? Don’t fret! We have got answers to all your queries.

Can Hair Colour Impact Your Skin Adversely?

One thing is sure hair dyes contain chemicals. These ingredients get absorbed in the skin in small amounts. However, they have hardly caused any harmful reactions. But hair dye can often make the skin itchy, swell or red. Therefore, you must prevent the hair colour from staining your skin.

How To Get Hair Dye Off Your Skin?

Apply Greasy Product To Prepare The Skin

The best way to get hair dye off skin is to grease it well before applying the colour to hair. Products like petroleum jelly, leave-in hair conditioner and hair gel do not allow the chemicals in the dye to get soaked in the skin.

Thus, even if you get the dermal layer stained, you can easily scrape off the colour without much hassle. This trick is perfect when you have to apply dye by yourself. In case, you do not have these products at home, use a damp towel to wipe off the couple. However, you must be careful to not soak any dye from your hair.

Dab The Stain With Rubbing Alcohol

Another good choice of ingredient to remove the hair colour from the skin is rubbing alcohol. Put a few drops of it on a cotton ball and dab the stained area with it. It works similar to removing nail paint.

However, you must understand that rubbing alcohol is harsh and can make your skin itchy. Therefore, you must instantly rinse the area with warm water after removing the colour.

Rinse With Soap And Water

This is one of the first approaches that everyone takes. Rinse the stains with warm water and apply gentle soap until it lathers. Pat and dry the skin after rinsing and apply moisturisation. This works best when you follow these steps right after the hair dye has stained the skin.

Apply A Non-Gel Toothpaste

We bet you did not know about this trick. Remember to use a non-gel toothpaste and pour some on a cotton ball. You can also use your fingers to apply it to the stains.

Massage the toothpaste on the skin and leave it there to work for 5 or 10 minutes. You can use a damp tissue or cotton soaked in makeup remover to get rid of the stains on your skin.

Olive oil is the best choice for people with sensitive skin. Take a few drops of it on a cotton ball and gently rub the area with it. Leave the oil for 6-8 hours to absorb the hair colour. You can rinse it off with warm water.
